If time is a solid

Past, Present and Future. Laser ink on tracing paper, 2017.

If all of time is an enormous solid, with at least four dimensions, and all the moments that will ever be or have ever been are somehow happening at once, then the past and all the people in it lie a few blocks away. Death, to me, is no more than the top of your head. If, say, birth was the soles of your feet, then that’s just your length in time. [...] And it’s this idea that history is a solid, that it doesn’t get compartimentalised. The past is never put away, and all of its figures are active and interacting with us.
